This system has come a long ways since it started around 3 BC. At the time of Christ it was money changers in the temples. They chose the temples as a place to do business because that was the safest place to store their grain and other commercial products. Somewhere around the 1500′s when standardized bank notes and currency’s were established banking took another giant step forward. It was then that the bank building was started. Mostly they were in the castles so the king or other noble could keep an on the money.
Since the start of the USA their has always been banks and some form of currency. As our country and government became more mature the banks became more complicated.
Jesse James, Frank James and Cole Younger liked the way banks gathered large amounts of money together to hold for the towns people. It made it much easier to steal. However, this problem was solved, almost, as the banks figured out ways to keep the money safer and bank robberies are now pretty rare although they still go on. With the advances in pc banking money management becomes easier and safety grows. Very soon now bank robbery will become almost non exsistent as very little money will be kept in the local bank buildings.
Electronic banking started with the advent of the computer and when the internet was developed electronic banking started a brand new era of managing your money. Since then, banking has been brought to new heights with the introduction of laptops and I-phones which allowed virtual banking while still being associated with real world currency. Even faster transactions and larger volumes of money can now be transferred to anywhere from any where. You can pay bills from the local restaurant or at work and you can make eating reservations from your phone and buy your spouse roses at the same time.
As banking advances small business as well as individuals can take credit and debit cards from their phones on any street corner. Cab drivers can take and process charge cards from dash terminals or phone terminals and you can check how much you were charged while standing on the corner.
